Liposuction is a procedure to reduce, slim and reshape specific areas of the body. It can be used to reshape and restore contour to your neck, arms, back, abdomen, buttocks, hips, knees and thighs.

What is Tumescent Liposuction?

Pure Tumescent Liposuction is the safest, easiest way to remove unwanted, or diet-resistant areas of fat. Developed by dermatologic surgeons, tumescent liposuction is performed on various body sites including the neck, abdomen, arms and thighs. Performed in the privacy of our surgical center, Dr. Jacob only utilizes local anesthesia for the safety and comfort of our patients.

Trained at Harvard, Dr. Jacob is an expert in this in-office procedure, has been performing tumescent liposuction since 1999, and is a respected author of several articles and book chapters on the art and science of liposuction.

Who is a good candidate for liposuction?

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. You are a good candidate if you are in otherwise good health and have areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Smaller areas such as abdomen, chin and inner/outer thighs are prefect for in-office tumescent liposuction. If a larger procedure is desired, Dr. Christopoulos can provide a more fuller body conturing liposuction surgery.

Tumescent Liposuction can take anywhere between 1 – 5 hours, depending on how many areas are being treated. For example, the chin takes about an hour, abdomen is about 3 hours.

While only local anesthesia is used and no stitches are applied, you may still require a day or two off work to let your body recover from the procedure. However, waiting a week to resume exercising is required.
