Nanoblading (Hair Strokes)

Similar to microblading, nanoblading is a form of semi permanent makeup brow tattooing that implements a pen style tattoo machine and one very fine needle (as opposed to microblading, which uses several) to lay pigment under the skin, giving a natural look of individual precise and fine eyebrow hairs that can actually mimic real hair in the skin. Just like microblading, the pigment does begin to fade overtime and will require touch-up treatments with Jessica Taylor, although microbladed brows do fade faster because the pigment is placed more superficially under the skin.

Nanoblading comes with several potential brow benefits; the results last longer than microblading, it helps brows appear fuller, and the brow shape and color are customizable for each individual. The nanoblading tools allow for more controlled application than microblading resulting in ultra-precise hair-like strokes.

Ombré Powder Brows (Machine Shading)

This technique uses a machine to place pigment into the skin, gradually building up the color and saturation. It will resemble light brow makeup and not individual hair strokes (like nanoblading). If you want to replace your brow makeup as much as possible, this service is best for you!

Combo Brows (Hair Strokes + Machine Shading)

This technique helps add dimension with hair strokes and density to the brow with shading, which creates a perfect blend to your natural hair. Combo brows are great for those with natural to no brow hair, but are looking for a more filled in, fuller brow makeup look.

Lip Blushing

Lip blushing is a type of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing procedure achieved by depositing pigments in your lips using tiny needles. This process enhances the color and shape of your lips to give the impression of fuller lips and can be done in a variety of shades based on the patient’s preference. It can even make your lips more symmetrical.

Lip blushing enhances lip definition without injections or fillers. It restores the appearance of your natural lip color, corrects undesirable lip color, and corrects blurred lip lines. It eliminates the need to apply any lipstick, pigmented gloss, or balm to your lips daily. It can also be used for color correction for scars and uneven pigmentation.

Permanent Makeup Expectations

  • DAY 1
    Brows are fresh and may be a little vibrant in color. Any redness should subside within 24-48 hours.
  • DAY 2-7
    Brows may look 2-3 shades darker.
  • WEEK 2
    Brows may start to flake and peel, looking a bit patchy.
  • WEEK 3
    Color will fade a bit and almost disappear.
  • WEEK 4-5
    Color will reappear and bloom back to the surface, healing 30-40% lighter.

Is permanent makeup actually permanent?

Although considered to be a form of tattooing, permanent makeup does eventually fade over time due to the pigment used and if touch-up appointments are maintained. Pigment deposits into the outer epidermis layer, so it fades more rapidly than traditional tattooing techniques, which place pigment deeper into the skin.

After your initial session and your 6-10 week touch up session, nanoblading results can last an average of 1- 3 years. Ombré and Combo brows can last anywhere from 1-3 years. Typically, lip blushing lasts between two to three years and will gradually lighten and fade over time, until your lips slowly return to their natural hue.

Yes! Touch ups are normal and expected in permanent cosmetics. All services require two sessions- the initial appointment and the touch up appointment. During the touch up, we will assess your healing results and make adjustments, which will increase the durability of your brows or lips. Touch up appointments are booked for 6-10 weeks after your first session. Following this second appointment, touch-ups should be every 10-18 months, or as needed.

A topical numbing cream is applied throughout to make you feel at ease and comfortable during the service, but pain tolerance does vary from client to client. If the client is having the service done during their menstrual cycle, some increased sensitivity may occur.

There is no downtime per se, because patients can normally walk out ready to show off their new brows, but they will be initially bolder and a little patchy for about the first week or so depending on the client. The color will later rise back to the surface to a beautiful, natural color within 2-5 weeks. On average, your brows will fade up to 30-50% after your first appointment, which is why it is important to book your touch up appointment.
