CoolSculpting vs EMSCULPT – Which is Better?

In the realm of non-surgical body contouring, two standout treatments have emerged as front runners—CoolSculpting and EMSCULPT. Each treatment offers unique body contouring benefits without the downtime associated with traditional surgery. This blog post explores the differences between these two innovative treatments. We’ll cover the technology behind each treatment, what areas of the body can be treated, who’s a candidate, and how results compare to each other. What’s the Difference Between CoolSculpting and EMSCULPT? The latest versions of these two treatments are CoolSculpting Elite and EMSCULPT NEO. Let’s compare and see which one could be the key to achieving your body contouring goals. Treatment CoolSculpting and EMSCULPT are both non-invasive body contouring treatments, but they target different needs. CoolSculpting reduces fat by freezing fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body. EMSCULPT, on the other hand, uses electromagnetic energy to stimulate muscle contractions and Radiofrequency heating, enhancing muscle tone and reducing fat at the same time. Technology CoolSculpting utilizes a technology known as cryolipolysis to target and freeze fat cells, a process that selectively reduces fat layers without harming the skin or surrounding tissues. EMSCULPT uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic technology (HIFEM energy) to induce powerful muscle contractions not achievable through regular exercise. Areas Treated Both treatments have versatile applications. CoolSculpting can be used on nine different areas including the flanks, abdomen, thighs, under chin, back, and upper arms. EMSCULPT is typically applied to the abdomen, buttocks, triceps, biceps, and calves. The main difference is that CoolSculpting treats the under-chin area and back fat, while EMSCULPT does not. Candidates Ideal candidates for CoolSculpting are those looking to eliminate pockets of stubborn fat. EMSCULPT is best suited for individuals who want to reduce fat and improve muscle tone simultaneously. Coolsculpting is best suited for patients  close to their goal weight with a BMI of 30 or less, while EMSCULPT NEO can treat patients up to BMI 35. The Experience CoolSculpting involves a sensation of intense cold and suction as it works on fat cells, while EMSCULPT feels like an intensive workout with deep muscle contractions. Both body sculpting treatments are relatively comfortable and require no anesthesia, needles or downtime. Downtime Both procedures boast minimal to no downtime. Patients can return to daily activities immediately after a CoolSculpting or EMSCULPT session. Number of Sessions CoolSculpting typically requires 1 to 3 sessions for optimal results, depending on the treatment area and individual goals. EMSCULPT generally involves a series of 4 sessions, scheduled 5 to 10 days apart, to achieve the best outcomes in muscle tone and fat loss. Side Effects While both treatments are proven safe and effective, there are some possible side effects. CoolSculpting can cause temporary redness, swelling, and bruising. EMSCULPT may lead to muscle fatigue similar to what one might feel after a vigorous workout. Results CoolSculpting results are typically seen within one to three months post-treatment as the body processes and removes dead fat cells. In clinical trials, CoolSculpting eliminated up to 25% of fat in the treated area. EMSCULPT results can be noticed as early as a few weeks after the first session, with improvements continuing for several weeks. In EMSCULPT clinical trials, patients reported high levels of satisfaction with treatments, and saw on average a 30% fat reduction and 25% increase in muscle mass after just four sessions. Which is Better – EMSCULPT or CoolSculpting? Choosing between CoolSculpting and EMSCULPT depends on your goals—whether you are looking to reduce fat specifically or also increase muscle mass. How Does the Brella Sweat Control Patch Work?

Excessive sweating can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. Fortunately, innovative solutions like the Brella SweatControl Patch offer an effective and non-invasive option for treatment. But how does a sweat control patch work, and what makes the Brella Patch stand out? This blog post delves into the science behind the Brella SweatControl Patch, its application, and benefits. After reading, we welcome you to explore our other excessive sweating treatments so you can find the perfect option for your unique needs. How Does a Sweat Control Patch Work? Sweat control patches are designed to combat hyperhidrosis, a condition that causes excessive sweating. The patch has a thin sodium sheet with an adhesive backing that is applied to the underarm. When the sodium comes in contact with the water in sweat (sweat is 99% water) it heats up and targets sweat glands to significantly reduce sweat production. Application Process Our experienced providers apply the sweat control patch in-office, and the process is quick and painless. First, we thoroughly clean and dry the treatment area to ensure the patch adheres properly. Then, we carefully apply the patch to the skin on your underarms, where it sets for just a few minutes. During the procedure the treated area will start to feel warm as the time passes. You may also feel some stinging or other sensations that may become more noticeable as the treatment takes place. Patients can return to normal activities immediately after a Brella treatment. Results One of the significant advantages of a sweat control patch is its long-lasting effects. Patients can expect to see a reduction in sweating within a few days of treatment, and the effects can last several months. On average, patients typically have relief from sweating for three to four months after treatment. How long results last will depend on the patient and the severity of the hyperhidrosis. Is the Brella SweatControl Patch Safe? The Brella SweatControl Patch is FDA-cleared and safe for most individuals. You may experience treatment-related minor redness or irritation, which typically resolves immediately after the procedure. Some patients had tenderness or sensitivity that lasted up to 48 hours. Serious side effects are rare, but it’s always important to discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider before starting treatment. Benefits of the Brella Patch Non-Invasive Treatment Unlike surgical options for hyperhidrosis, the Brella Patch does not require any incisions or recovery time. Patients can resume their daily activities immediately after treatment, making it a convenient option for those with busy lifestyles. Targeted Application The Brella Patch directly targets the underarm area. This precision helps maximize the effectiveness of the treatment while minimizing any potential side effects. Minimal Side Effects Most patients tolerate the Brella SweatControl Patch well, with minimal side effects. The most common side effects include mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the application site. These typically resolve within a few days. How Should I Prepare For My Brella Appointment? Preparing for your Brella appointment is simple and straightforward. Ensure that the treatment area is clean and you don’t apply any lotions or deodorants on the day of treatment. You should wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. Avoid shaving the treatment area for 48 hours before your appointment to prevent irritation. Your healthcare provider will give you additional instructions to ensure the best results from your Brella treatment during your consultation. Speak with a Skin Care Expert If you struggle with excessive sweating and are looking for an effective solution, the Brella SweatControl Patch might be the answer. The NEED TO KNOW Summer Tips for flawless & radiant skin

Going into summer 2024, everyone wants the best skincare advice and tips to combat summer heat, prolonged sun exposure, and how to get that glow! CCSD asks Alexis Jawny, our License Esthetician here at Chicago Cosmetic Surgery & Dermatology. Q: What are your top summer skincare tips? A: HYDRATION! Especially in the summer due to our bodies losing more water from sweating. We need to replenish that water loss by staying hydrated. Best way is to apply a Hyaluronic Acid serum. My favorite is the Alastin HA Immerse because it helps the skin’s ability to naturally increase its own high-molecular hyaluronic acid production. Giving the skin an instant boost of hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.   A: SUNSCREEN! We must protect our skin from harmful UV rays even on cloudy days. Too much unprotected sun exposure can lead to sunburns, pigmentation, premature aging and potential skin cancer. I always recommend using a mineral based sunscreen because it reflects UVA and UVB rays. Tinted sunscreens are extra beneficial to melasma patients or patients with more hyperpigmentation. The iron oxide helps block visible light and blue light which also contributes to pigmentation forming. I love the Elta MD Elements Tinted SPF. It is an all mineral sunscreen that is tinted to eliminate the white cast most mineral sunscreens leave. A: ANTIOXIDANTS! The sun can cause unstable molecules, called free radicals, to damage cells in your skin. Applying a topical antioxidant can help neutralize the unstable molecule, reducing its capacity to damage the skin. Your skin will have a more even skin tone and summertime glow. I LOVE the Alastin C Radical Defense serum. This Vitamin C uses Sodium Ascorbate which defends against free radical damage and conserves elastin production. The only Vitamin C on the market to do so! Plus, it has a creamy texture that is nonirritating on the skin! Q: What is the best treatment for summer? A:  I highly recommend getting a Diamond Glow Microdermabrasion! It is the perfect summertime treatment because there is zero downtime and no interference with sun exposure. In these hot months it is important to exfoliate, have a deep cleanse and enhance hydration. The Diamond Glow can provide all three of those concerns in one treatment. Your skin will feel soft, plump and hydrated. Perfect before a vacation or wedding! I even like to combine it with a dermaplaning for better product penetration, make-up application and removal of peach fuzz. The treatments complement each other very well! Q: What is the best product to have with you this summer? A:  My favorite summertime product is the SkinBetter Science Sunbetter TONE SMART SPF 68 Sunscreen Compact. This sunscreen uses its tone smart technology to match any skin tone and blend well into the skin. I use it has my make-up coverage for the summer. It provides beautiful coverage without feeling heavy or greasy while still being protected from the sun! The compact case makes it very easy to carry around and convenient for reapplication throughout the day! For more information, connect with us for a personalized skincare consultation.
