Collagen, the pathway to fresher, younger looking skin

After the age of 20, a person produces about 1% less collagen in the skin each year. By age 40, we have lost approximately 10%-20% of our collagen. By 50, we are down 20%-40%....and so the trend continues. Eek! This means that our skin becomes thinner and more fragile with age. We see diminished function of the oil glands (hydration and protection) and less elastin (elasticity) production. Wrinkle formation as a result of intrinsic aging is inevitable, but it is gradual and very normal. Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body, and the key building block for everything from connective tissue  to hair, nails and the dermis layer of our skin. It functions much like the frame of a house: providing support, inside and out. Without the frame, our house gets cracks and needs repair. The dermis layer of our skin  is made up of more than 70% collagen. Of this, 80% is Type I and 10% is Type III, providing the perfect foundation for youthful, flawless looking skin. Financial Reminders for 2018

The new year often means a change of insurance provider or policy. If you have new insurance, or want to know if your policy is in network, please call the office in advance of any forthcoming visit so we can run a check on your eligibility and benefits. You need to bring a copy of your current insurance card to all appointments, otherwise may risk being considered self-pay for the day. Please be aware that we do require all patients to leave a credit card on file, and have found this to be a more convenient and private option for you to pay your bill, wherever you are. With the increase in high-deductible health plans, If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to speak with our billing department, 312-245-9965, option 4. Lastly, we’d like to remind all patients that our Practice has operated a last minute cancellation and no show fee since 2016. If you need to cancel or reschedule any appointment, we do kindly ask for more than 24 business hours notice, otherwise a fee may be applicable. As a popular Practice, we operate this policy to ensure all patients have an equal and fair opportunity to see their chosen provider.

Meaghan obtained her esthetic license at Pivot Point Academy. She joins us with over 5 years experience working within plastic surgery and medical skin care specialties. She loves to be on the forefront of technology and product science, enabling her to provide the perfect treatment plan for each patient. I’ve been seeing Dr. Ibrahim Omer for a few months now for some derm issues (perioral dermatitis, eczema). He instantly identifies the problem and prescribes appropriately. He is also great with taking the time to explain what’s happening, and how to manage the medications and creams once I get home.
