National Psoriasis Awareness Month

Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory and systemic condition and much more than just a rash, although it can often present like one. It often starts with a few patches here and there, mostly on elbows, knees or on extremities or in the scalp. The patches have distinct borders and are often silvery and scaly in nature. It won’t discriminate - even our very own Dr. Jacob has struggled with psoriasis since her teen years. Skincare BFF’s = Antioxidant + SPF

Guys, we've told you before and we'll tell you again: Sunscreen alone is not enough to keep sun damage away. Before you have a freckle freakout and cry into your EltaMD, we have the solution! CCSD Chicago Fundraising – Miles for Melanoma 2017

May is skin cancer awareness month. In addition to running our free mole check clinic on May 1st the providers and staff of Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology will be participating in Miles for Melanoma on July 9th 2017. This 5k event for walkers and runners aims to raise awareness and money for research in the fight against melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. I’ve been seeing Dr. Ibrahim Omer for a few months now for some derm issues (perioral dermatitis, eczema). He instantly identifies the problem and prescribes appropriately. He is also great with taking the time to explain what’s happening, and how to manage the medications and creams once I get home.
