August is Hair Loss Awareness Month

Suffering with excessive shedding, thinning or loss of hair can be a silent struggle for both male and female patients. Chicago Cosmetic and Dermatologic Research includes our CCSD Doctors, Physician Assistants and collaborative research team, whose main goal is to advance in the fields of cosmetic surgery and dermatology. UV Safety Month – Protect Your Skin this July

Everyone waits all year for summertime in Chicago! We hope all of our patients enjoy the warmer weather safely with these four tips to protect your skin this July, which is UV Safety Month: For your skin, ALWAYS wear a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher on any exposed skin, reapplying every 2 hours. If you’re swimming or sweating, use a waterproof sunscreen. Limit peak sun exposure from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM if possible or seek shade when out during those times. This is when the sun's UV rays are the highest! You can also wear UPF clothing such as MOTT50 or COOLIBAR. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates what fraction of the sun’s ultraviolet rays can penetrate fabric. A shirt with a UPF of 50, allows just 1/50th of the sun’s UV radiation to reach the skin. This helps reduce the amount of exposed skin and less sunblock coverage needed where the UPF clothing covers. Sunglasses with UV protection and wide-brimmed hats are also recommended to fully protect yourself from harmful UV rays. CCSD Texting Update

We know our patients enjoy the convenience of directly texting our Practice phone number, 312-245-9965! CCSD is dedicated to continuing providing this service, however please note that we cannot receive photos via texting at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will notify our patients as soon as this service is restored! In the meantime, you can still send photos to us by emailing [email protected] or by uploading it to your patient portal, which is the most HIPAA compliant way to transmit this information. If you still need to register with our patient portal please give our office a call (312-245-9965 opt. 2) as it is the gateway to safe and secure messaging, appointment confirmations, photos, medical records and more. If you are texting our office for the first time, we will prompt you to reply with  “CONSENT” in order to text back and forth with you. The consent text will come from our office phone number, so you’ll know it’s CCSD! Appointment reminders via text message are currently down, but we are working to restore this service. Appointments can still be confirmed via email (so make sure we do not go to spam) and your patient portal. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

CCSD MASK REMINDER – Updated 3/1/22

At Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology, the health & safety of our patients, providers and staff have always been our top priority. We continue to follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance for healthcare settings and continue to implement procedures to adhere to these guidelines. As you may know, the CDC recently released new masking recommendations that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance themselves. However, as explicitly stated by the CDC, these new recommendations do NOT include healthcare settings, like CCSD. While we can’t wait to see your smiling faces when visiting our practice, because we are a healthcare setting, CCSD will continue to require: ALL patients, providers and staff must continue to wear face masks, regardless of their vaccination status. We will continue to follow the full infection control procedures required by the CDC for healthcare settings. This includes masks, social distancing, enhanced infection prevention, monitoring and screening staff & patients (health survey and temp checks), and sanitizing clinic rooms and common areas.   If this requirement changes, we will notify our patients ASAP! I’ve been seeing Dr. Ibrahim Omer for a few months now for some derm issues (perioral dermatitis, eczema). He instantly identifies the problem and prescribes appropriately. He is also great with taking the time to explain what’s happening, and how to manage the medications and creams once I get home.
